This Quatrain has been dubiously attributed to the conflict between the various Protestant Sects and the Church of Rome. Another point of view has it that it is just a vague reference to a trial and the subsequent execution of some political prisioners. Does it? In the year 1977, Reverend Jim Jones, sole spiritual and earthly leader of The People's Temple, vehemently resented the governments intrusion into his life and ministry. Angry, he moved his followers to South America. In Guyana, on its northern coast, he founded Jonestown. Jim Jones was enraged when US Congressman Leo Ryan and a phalanx of journalists and cult members relatives came to Jonestown to continue the investigation into the appalling rumors of Jones' attrocities. Four days later, as the visitors were preparing to leave, Jones ordered that they be assassinated. Congressman Ryan was killed, although some of the intended victims did escape.Fearing the authorities, and determined that no one would control his life, Jim Jones commanded his followers to drink a concoction made of water, sugar and strawberry flavored powdered drink (It's initials are K-A). In the drink he had a great quantity of cyanide added. Over 900 people died that day; men, women and children. A deadly cocktail with which to salute their 'King'. Death said close, close because Jones had numerous drills where the followers were given unpoisoned cups of the drink to swallow on command. | This Quatrain seemed cryptic in its meaning when bandied about with the various churches as its base, but, applied to the correct event, it becomes crystal clear!
